Carrick has 30+ yearsâ experience working in the risk advisory and insurance brokerage industry. He began his career as a âFinancial Lines Brokerâ placing wholesale / reinsurance policies on behalf of an international portfolio of Financial Institution clients, in particular those domiciled in Latin America and the Middle East. Subsequent to a full-time secondment to the Group Insurance Management and Liability Risk Control functions of a Swiss Universal Bank, Carrick was appointed a "Client Relationship Leader". His retail portfolio has included some of the worldâs largest Financial Institutions domiciled in Australia, Switzerland, the UK and the USA.
In 2017, Carrick changed focus and now performs in the role of "Technology Industry Leader". In addition to his own portfolio of clients, he manages a core team of industry practitioners and has a broad overview of all relevant risk management / insurance solutions which create and deliver value for the key industry sectors. Carrick is a Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute and is a current member of the Marsh UK Senior Leadership Team. Previously he has served as a member of the FINPRO ("Specialtyâ Financial Lines) and Risk Management (Retail âLarge Accountâ) Executive Committees plus the Corporate (Retail âMiddle Marketâ) Senior Leadership Group.
Sam is a renowned industry thought leader and expert into the technology vertical and tech/emerging risks. He has focussed 100% on the sector since 2011, and has held various national, regional and global senior leadership roles at insurance broking companies. Throughout his career, Sam has worked with 100s of technology companies in over 35 countries, commissioned and led multiple industry research projects and events, and spearheaded thought leadership and product development into key emerging risk areas â including âCyberâ/Technology Errors and Omissions, Autonomous Vehicles, Intellectual Property/Patent, non-damage business interruption, and contingent business interruption/supply chain etc. More recently Sam has been focussing on developing a new Data Centre offering, to support the rapidly growing sectorâs evolving risk landscape, as well as other initiatives in Marsh including the capital journey and IPO preparation, autonomy and new mobility, artificial intelligence and intangible risks â bringing together the realms of risk, strategy and people.
Sam supports tech industry clients through building long-term risk strategies, based upon their capital journeys, technology deployment plans, and commercial objectives. Sharing industry best practice, innovation and outside-the-box thinking, ultimately enabling his clients to support their objectives with sustainable solutions.
Joe leads Mercer Marsh Benefitsâ Technology Industry Practice and has over a decade of experience and background across multiple Health and wellbeing solutions and in the intermediary partner arena. Joeâs recent roles in People Experience focused on the strategic levers across an organisationâs people ecosystem. Joe is passionate about transforming how people feel about work, this is through a strategic combination of factors whether it be culture and communications, to employee benefits, wellbeing, and career.
