Former Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer opened London Tech Week with a series of major announcements focused on strengthening the UK’s AI capabilities.
These included around £400 million to secure specialist AI chips for the UK, plans for a £750 million national AI supercomputer, further investment in British chip development and new AI skills initiatives.
He also announced a new government AI tool designed to help people find work and build CVs, alongside plans to expand access to AI tutors for around 450,000 children receiving free school meals.
