Techfugees

London Tech Week Charity Partner
The unprecedented scale of forcibly displaced persons, with 103 million displaced (representing 1% of humanity) is rapidly rising due to a climate change including speed and frequency of conflicts and natural disasters, with experts predicting 1.2 billion displaced by 2050. Techfugees mission is harnessing skilled volunteers, global collective action and responsible tech to empower inclusion of forcibly displaced persons to leave no-one behind in today's increasingly digital and climate-changed world. Operating within the framework of the UN Sustainable Goals, we place displaced persons at the heart of all the work that we do. Our global digital lifeguard community across emergency crisis response (Ukraine, Turkey, Afghanistan) and international Chapters unites like-minded individuals and organisations with a common purpose to guide displaced persons to safety, connect them to resources and networks whilst enabling the path of least resistance to accelerate their digital livelihoods for inclusion whilst elevating unheard, unseen displaced voices in advocating their rights in the digital society. Our local grassroots programs developed for and with displaced persons focus on advancing the use of tech to mitigate disinformation, strengthening crisis coordination, trafficking and enabling equitable access to connect the unconnected to trusted information, education, health resources, and inclusion opportunities for work/employment including micro-enterprise development. Stronger, Together' is Techfugees guiding principle and through our work, we have made a significant impact on the lives of thousands of displaced persons worldwide. Techfugees has received numerous recognition for its innovative collective approach and applying tech for social good. Our vision is to create a more inclusive world where every displaced person is digitally included, empowering them to rebuild their lives and become active positive contributors to communities. Humanity matters as the purpose of human life is to serve, show compassion and help others We invite you to join us to make a difference to collectively break through the digital exclusion barriers for forcibly displaced persons to access digital resources to unlock their talent potential and grow their livelihoods.
