Dr Sina Sareh
Reader in Robotics and Design Intelligence,
RCA
Dr. Sina Sareh is the Academic Leader and Reader in Robotics and Design Intelligence at the Royal College of Art’s Robotics Laboratory. His research focuses on developing robots that safeguard people in high-risk industrial environments while ensuring the systems last longer, work smarter, and minimize waste. Dr. Sareh has served as PI or Co-I on projects with competitive research funding totaling over £8 million. As an EPSRC Fellow, he pioneered anchoring systems that enhance robot mobility and manipulation in unpredictable settings. He was a Co-Investigator on MIMRee (Multi-platform Inspection, Maintenance, and Repair in Extreme Environments), an Innovate UK-funded project for the remote repair of offshore wind turbine blades. He currently leads the £1.9 million EPSRC project Circular Robot 5.0, which applies cutting-edge robotics, AI, and blockchain to extend the service life of industrial robots in manufacturing. Dr. Sareh served as an Impact Assessor for Sub-panel 12: Engineering in the Research Excellence Framework (REF2021), and serves on the Editorial Board of IET Cyber Systems and Robotics.
