Sarah Cardell

Sarah Cardell was appointed Chief Executive of the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) in December 2022. She previously served as the CMA's General Counsel (from September 2013), with responsibility for leading the CMA's Legal Service and Policy & International directorates as well as the CMA's Digital Market Unit. She joined the CMA from Ofgem (the UK regulator for electricity and gas markets) where she was the Legal Partner of the Markets Division, and previously worked at Slaughter and May in London as a Partner in the Competition Group.
