Peter Kyle was first elected as MP for Hove and Portslade in 2015, and has been re-elected twice since then with an increased majority. He is currently Labour's Shadow Secretary of State for Science, Innovation and Technology, having previously served as Shadow Secretary of State for Northern Ireland. Beforehand, he worked within the Shadow Justice team and sat on the influential Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy Select Committee.
