Ollie Ilott is the Director General for Emerging Technology and AI in the Department for Science, Innovation and Technology (DSIT). He is responsible for policy on online harms; frontier technologies including AI, quantum, engineering biology and robotics; AI adoption and preparedness; and oversight of the AI Security Institute
Ollie was the founding Director of the AI Security Institute and previously was Deputy Principal Private Secretary to the Prime Minister, leading the domestic affairs team in No10 Private Office. He led on the Cabinet Office COVID Taskforce’s strategy team and worked on Brexit in the Civil Service from 2017 to 2020. Before this he was a researcher at the Institute for Government.
