Monika Gullerova
Professor Monika Gullerova pursued her studies in molecular biology at Comenius University in Bratislava, where she developed a deep interest in molecular biology and experimental oncology. After completing her degree, she moved to Vienna to undertake her PhD, expanding her research into the fundamental science of gene expression regulation.
Monika joined the University of Oxford as a Postdoctoral Fellow and received the L'Oreal/UNESCO Women in Science UK award in recognition of her scientific contributions. Concurrently, she extended her studies at Harvard Medical School and Kyoto University.
In 2013, Monika established her own laboratory at the Sir William Dunn School of Pathology in Oxford, supported by a Career Development Award from the Medical Research Council. Her research group focused on the DNA damage response and gene expression regulation.
In 2018, Monika was honoured with a Senior Research Fellowship from Cancer Research UK to support her research on genome stability and its implications for cancer. She leads a multidisciplinary team of experts in molecular biology, chemistry, and computational science to make fundamental discoveries that could pave the way for next-generation cancer therapies. Monika co-founded Dark Blue Therapeutics and is engaged in another venture within the cancer research domain.
