Matt Clifford CBE is cofounder of Entrepreneurs First (EF), the leading global talent investor and incubator; Chair of ARIA, the UK’s Advanced Research and Invention Agency; and Vice Chair of the AI Safety Institute Advisory Board.

In 2023, Matt helped create the UK’s AI Safety Institute and served as the Prime Minister’s Representative for the AI Safety Summit hosted at Bletchley Park. In 2025 he was appointed the UK Prime Minister's Adviser on AI, following the publication of the AI Opportunities Action Plan.

Matt also sits on the board of Code First Girls, which he co-founded in 2013. Matt holds degrees from Cambridge and MIT and was awarded a CBE for services to AI in 2024.
