James Roberts MBE is an award-winning design and entrepreneur. In 2014, he won the global Sir James Dyson Award for innovation with his project, the mOm inflatable incubator, a novel neonatal incubator designed to be used anywhere.

Following this achievement, James has received significant recognition for his contributions to engineering and entrepreneurship. He was named a MedTech rising star by MD-DI, awarded the Princess Royal Silver Medal for outstanding personal contribution to UK engineering, and an MBE for services to engineering and entrepreneurship.

James founded mOm Incubators Ltd. to develop and commercialize this innovative incubator concept. The mOm incubator is notable for its compact, lightweight, and collapsible design, which greatly improves transportability and access. It creates a thermo-regulated environment for premature and vulnerable babies, significantly reducing mortality rates related to hypothermia and infection.

The device has received an MDR CE mark and FDA 510k clearance, and has been supported by an expert, high-profile team. To date, the mOm incubator has impacted an estimated 15,000 babies' lives across seven countries, including deployments in conflict zones, LMIC’s and the UK NHS.

James continues to lead mOm, with a strong focus on innovation that addresses critical health challenges.
