Jakob Mökander
Jakob Mökander is Vice President, Policy – Europe & UK at the General Catalyst Institute, where he works with founders to scale transformative companies and supports governments in building competitive and resilient innovation ecosystems.
Prior to GC, he was Director of Science & Technology Policy at the Tony Blair Institute, where he built and led a team advising political leaders in 40+ countries on AI adoption, research funding and digital sovereignty. He earlier worked at McKinsey & Company in London, advising Fortune 500 firms on digital transformation, and with the Swedish Trade & Invest Council in New Delhi, where he helped companies expand across South Asia and built bilateral innovation partnerships between government and industry. He has also served as a staff sergeant in the Swedish Armed Forces.
Originally trained as an engineer, Jakob holds a PhD from the University of Oxford focused on AI auditing and governance. He has been a Visiting Scholar at Princeton University and remains affiliated with Yale’s Digital Ethics Center.
