Gerard leads the Innovation and Venture Acceleration (IVA) group at National Grid to create scalable, disruptive ventures driving a path to Net Zero.
Gerard has over 15 years’ experience in the Energy Sector leading multi-disciplinary teams in start-up and corporate environments.
Prior to National Grid, as CEO of Upya Technologies, Gerard co-founded and grew an Innovate UK-backed SaaS start-up. The company helps last mile distributors digitise their operations and build scalable and sustainable businesses in frontier markets in more than 20 countries across Africa and Asia.
Gerard also worked at Bell Labs with a focus on energy and with BCG’s energy practice in London.
Gerard is a Chartered Engineer holding an MBA from INSEAD and a PhD from the University of Limerick, Ireland.
