Gerard Grech CBE

Gerard Grech is the Managing Director of Founders at the University of Cambridge, accelerating deep-tech ventures spanning AI, software, biotech and physical science. Previously, he was the founder and CEO of Tech Nation, shaping one of Europe’s leading digital tech ecosystems and supporting over 1,300 startups, including Monzo and Deliveroo and returning 20x on public investment before it was acquired by the Founders Forum Group. He also co-wrote the UK Government’s 2022 FinTech Review, which led to the creation of the Centre for Finance, Technology, and Innovation.
Appointed CBE by King Charles III in 2024 for services to technology, he serves on the UK Government’s Digital Economy Council and the World Economic Forum’s Digital Board. His career spans leadership in product development and venture capital roles at Nokia Ventures, Orange and France Telecom in Paris, London and New York, as well as early work in media and music as a journalist.
