Dr George Economides is Acting Deputy Director for Advanced Analytics at the Department for Transport (DfT) in the United Kingdom. He has a diverse background in the Smart Mobility space, having started his career in Formula E and rapid prototyping. George joined Oxfordshire County Council to lead the Future of Mobility Team, leading numerous innovation projects including self-driving vehicles and drones. He later joined the DfT under the office of the Chief Scientific Adviser to head the Transport Research and Innovation Board (TRIB), later becoming the Head of AI and Autonomy Technologies, then Head of Digital Twins. His work bridges science, technology and policy, seeking to advance data-centric decision-making and digital innovation within the public sector. He has been the recipient of several awards including the TaaS Future Mobility Champion and Josef Pliva Award for scientific excellence.
