Elizabeth Seward is Head of Space Strategy and Market Development at BAE Systems, responsible for defining the strategic direction and market growth across defence and civil space.

Elizabeth is an experienced Space and Defence professional and has worked in varied roles starting as a spacecraft engineer before moving into communications, marketing, business development and strategy. Her work with start-up organisations has included reviewing investment opportunities, advising companies and accelerator programmes, and representing an LP on a VC Advisory Board.

Elizabeth is an advocate for diversity across the Space sector and was a founding member of the Women in Aerospace Europe UK local group. She is active in the International Astronautical Federation, sitting on several committees, and is a STEM outreach ambassador.

Elizabeth’s career has taken her around the world, from designing rovers as a summer student at Caltech to presenting on an aircraft carrier in New York harbour. A highlight was when Elizabeth demonstrated the European Space Agency’s ExoMars Rover, Rosalind Franklin, to the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh.
