Dr Sabrina Cohen-Hatton has lived experience of homelessness, having experienced it as a teenager in Newport. Sabrina sold the Big Issue to save up for a rental deposit and began her career as a firefighter. At night school, she studied for a 1st Class Honours degree in Psychology, a Masters in International Fire Service Development and a PhD in Behavioural Neuroscience. She is recognised as a leading international expert and is now one of the most senior Fire Officers in the country. Last year, she was awarded the King’s Fire Service Medal, presented to her by His Majesty The King. Sabrina’s story has received international interest and she has written a series of books, including ’The Heat of the Moment’, ’The Gender Bias’ and ‘What Your Dog is Thinking’.
