Rebecca Lutton is Head of Technology Adoption for Digital Twins and Distributed Systems at Digital Catapult in Belfast. She holds a PhD in Advanced Materials and Processing, an MEng in Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering, and an MSc in Internet of Things. With over 15 years’ experience across sectors including manufacturing, aerospace, defence, marine, medical, civil, and finance, Rebecca specialises in designing and implementing technical infrastructure that enables interoperability between enterprise systems, engineering platforms, and operational technology. Her expertise spans digital integration, IoT architecture, AI implementation, data analytics and open-source technologies. Rebecca has held a variety of senior technical leadership roles including Head of R&D in civil engineering focusing on structural health monitoring, digital manufacturing engineer delivering lights-out production systems, and CEO of a technology startup. Her current role is to deliver projects on scalable distributed systems, specifically digital twins and the associated capabilities, by connecting data, systems, and physical assets in a trustworthy manner for real-world industrial environments.
