Dr. Oliver Vince

Co-Founder, Basecamp Research
Oliver Vince is Co-Founder of Basecamp Research, a frontier AI lab building biological foundation models to make therapeutic design programmable. Basecamp has created BaseData, the world’s largest evolutionary dataset, derived from global expeditions and partnerships that have uncovered billions of previously unknown genes and over one million new species. This data underpins EDEN, a family of evolutionary AI foundation models. Using EDEN, Basecamp has demonstrated AI-programmable Gene Insertion (aiPGI)—a new approach to precise, large-scale gene insertion that could expand the reach of gene and cell therapies beyond the limits of CRISPR. Oliver studied computer science and engineering at Oxford, earned a PhD in cancer research, and has led expeditions pioneering off-grid DNA sequencing in extreme environments. He serves on the World Economic Forum’s Global Future Council on Generative Biology.
