Irina Mirkina is an AI strategist and a leading authority on responsible industrial AI. With a successful career spanning academia, public, and private sectors, she is currently the Chief AI Scientist at Fugro, a global leader in geo-data solutions, where she guides products that harness AI for building a safe and livable world. Before joining Fugro, Dr. Mirkina served as the AI Lead for the Office of Innovation at UNICEF and as the AI Lead at Stena Line.

With an extensive background in AI ethics and international standards for AI governance, she has been instrumental in shaping policies and practices to ensure the responsible deployment of AI at scale. Dr. Mirkina has also served as a co-chair of the Community of Practice on AI for the Digital Public Goods Alliance, a co-organizer of the UN Generative AI Practice Group, a member of the UN Intra-Agency Working Group on AI, and an expert for the European Commission Research Executive Agency. Her work has earned her recognition on the lists of 100 Brilliant Women in AI Ethics™, Inspired Minds Top 65 Most Influential Women, and Hyperight Nordic 100 in Data, Analytics, and AI.
