David founded SoundOut in 2007 that soon became the global market leader in song testing for all the major record labels, national radio stations and hundreds of thousands of independent artists across the US and beyond. SoundOut then expanded into the world of strategic branding and, began working with Goldsmiths, University of London to create scientifically based tools to analyse and measure the emotional impact and effectiveness of music in strategic branding and marketing.
SoundOut was an early adopter of machine learning and AI and now uses AI to predict the human emotional response to any music composition across over 250 different emotions and attributes.
David is deeply immersed in the latest AI developments and the impact this is having on the music industry (and more generally). He was also the first external advisor to Voicify/Jammable (AI music voice cloning) and periodically writes/warns about the dramatic impact AI will have on society. He has also run large scale consumer studies measuring the emotional impact of Gen AI music on consumers and consumer attitudes to AI music.
