Claire Thorne

Co-CEO, Tech She Can

Claire is co-Chief Executive Officer of the UK’s tech careers education and social mobility charity: Tech She Can. She has scaled it from employee one, to achieving over 1M engagements globally, and creating the UKʼs first Inclusive AI Summit for schools.

She is also Adviser and Venture Partner at Deep Science Ventures (with a portfolio of more than 50 companies worth over £0.5bn). There she co-founded and is scaling a PhD in Invention: the Venture Science Doctorate.

Claire is passionate about responsible innovation, safety at the frontier, STEM education and research, and equitable pathways - driving opportunity for all. Claire has chaired roundtables at 10 Downing Street, spoken at London Tech Weeks, Mobile World Congress, and contributes to publications in Computing and The Guardian.
Claire serves on the Council of The Foundation for Science and Technology, is a member of the Sutton Trust’s Tech Future Taskforce and techUK’s TechSkills Advisory Board.
Her background is in innovation strategy at UK universities: shaping Imperial’s 23-acre White City innovation district, and operating a #1 university business incubator. Claire holds a PhD in Astroparticle Physics from Imperial College London.

Claire is a 2023, 2024 + 2025 Computer Weeklyʼs Most Influential Women in UK Tech finalist, and was named in Computingʼs Top 100 Most Influential Figures in UK IT 2024. In 2025, Claire was named one of the UK’s 50 Leading Lights in the Financial Times, an award recognising her kind leadership.
