Emma Thomas

Emma is a regulatory Government Affairs specialist with a background in global policy issues in the financial services and data space. Emma has over 10 years of direct Brussels experience, working previously for the European Parliament, before returning to London to continue in private practice, before joining Experian 8 years ago. Emma specialises in drafting and amending legislation and driving strategic policy engagement across multiple jurisdictions.

Emma has been involved in a number of high-level trade agreement negotiations for countries in the Middle East with the European Union, as well as US bilateral agreements in data protection, privacy, and financial services.

From the origination of the General Data Protection Regulation to the review of the current framework for data processing in the UK, Emma has worked closely on how data protection and privacy policy can be formulated in an innovative manner which supports privacy rights whilst ensuring innovation can thrive.
