Ted Brodheim
Ted Brodheim is recognized for his accomplishments using technology to transform K-12, higher education, and adult learning. He has managed technology for the largest school district in the US and global Fortune 500 companies. He is a trusted advisor to colleges and universities, state governors, and learning companies around the world.
Highlights of Mr. Brodheim’s career include:
- Chief Information Officer for the New York City Department of Education during the Bloomberg administration. Mr. Brodheim’s responsibilities included both the instructional and the administrative technology needs of the United States’ largest school district. He oversaw the design and implementation of innovative K-12 educational programs that leveraged technology to support teachers in and out of the classroom while increasing student and parent engagement. In leading this effort, Mr. Brodheim established strategic public/private partnerships with leading and emerging companies. His work has enabled New York City’s 1,850 public schools, serving over 1.1 million children, to run more effectively. The technology solutions he pioneered have been replicated in school districts across the nation and around the world.
- Co-Founder of StartEd, the leading education and workforce technology accelerator. As a founder of StartEd, Mr. Brodheim works to provide emerging companies with access to connections, capital, and customers to help founders solve the biggest problems in education. Over 2,000 company founders from all over the world have completed StartEd programs. Mr. Brodheim has developed a robust mentoring program including both experienced industry executives and academic subject matter experts from leading education and business schools. The mentor network also includes CEOs, private equity and venture capital professionals, attorneys, and management consultants. The StartEd mentor network plays a key role as founders develop their product, hone their business model, and refine their strategy.
- Vice President at Samsung Electronics America. Mr. Brodheim founded Samsung’s Vertical Business team, which forged business-to-business partnerships across key industries and developed targeted technology solutions. Mr. Brodheim developed and implemented models for the integration of Samsung technologies into education-sector practices, as well as into practices across other sectors including retail, healthcare, transportation logistics, finance, and manufacturing. Before entering the education space, Mr. Brodheim led a distinguished career as a Chief Information Officer in financial services. He was a Managing Director overseeing multi-national teams at JP Morgan, Credit Suisse, and Goldman Sachs. As a part of this work, Mr. Brodheim regularly interacted with key customers to discuss how to implement cutting-edge technology and the related investment and workflow implications.
