Welcome to AI, Bias and Belonging

If you are interested in a career in digital tech this event is a great way to:

  • Learn how Hackney role models built their careers—and hear what AI means to them.
  • Be inspired by leaders from across sectors tackling bias and building belonging in the age of AI.
  • Meet local education and training providers who can support your journey into tech and AI.

Part of Hackney Council's Diversity in Tech series, the event is co-hosted by Here East and LIFT.

Panel Discussion: AI, Bias and Belonging

Join us as we explore how AI shapes bias and belonging—and what it will take to build a truly inclusive, anti-racist digital economy. Panellists include:

  • Claudine Adeyemi-Adams, Founder & CEO of Earlybird, an AI-powered platform transforming employability support. A former lawyer and award-winning entrepreneur, she’s a leading voice in tech, inclusion, and youth empowerment.
  • Michael DaCosta, global innovation strategist with 30+ years' experience. He advises tech businesses and funds worldwide, and champions ethical AI, education, and social impact.
  • Dr Angela Martinez Dy, Senior Lecturer in Entrepreneurship at Loughborough University London. Her work focuses on digital entrepreneurship, anti-racist intersectional cyberfeminism, and community-led impact. She’s known for building values-driven organisations and championing liberatory unlearning.
