PEN Play Ltd, collaborates with therapists, teachers, communities, and parents to create ecosystems and provide innovative  educational products and services, focussing primarily on Mathematics, where there is a critical, worldwide need to improve standards.

Our mission is to help nursery and primary age children reach their full potential through the powerful medium of play, with focus on cognitive development and building emotional intelligence and resilience.

We deliver our programs through  a national network of “Let’s Really Play Maths!” educational Centers across South Africa - primarily in low-income communities, as we focus on playing our part in addressing the United Nations Sustainable Goal 10 to Reduce Inequality within and among countries.

Our unique and award-winning program - branded as Whartels ^TM - uses Art, Bibliotherapy, Board Games and Puppets to combines mathematics proficiency with developing emotional intelligence, by reducing anxiety and building resilience.

PEN Play is supported by a ground-breaking collaboration between North-West University in South Africa and Loughborough University in the UK.
